We will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays in September, from 4-5pm EST. The Monday class is the instruction and collaborative learning, and the Wednesday class is the lab, where students work solo or together, and I act as a guide to their open art/studio learning experience.
Community Art is defined by many things. Sometimes referred to as “community practice art,” or “community engaged art,” this is an art practice involving the community around the artist.
In this class, we will create large scale community art projects that speak to what the students care about. Forming these ideas as individuals and as a group, we will set forth projects and pieces that will actually be set up in the community to engage the people around us. The mission of this class is to activate the city with art and art making.
