We will meet on Tuesdays in February, from 4-5pm EST.

In this class, students will use professional-grade art materials like canvas, wood panels, and acrylic paints to make four different works that they will be proud of!

Together we will study and learn how acrylic paint works, its viscosity and texture is different from tempera or watercolor - how can we use this medium and come to understand, play, and create?  We will look at the new masters of painting as we actively challenge the art canon - how does Basquiat, for example, use texture?  Do you like it?  Why or why not?  Through this, students will not only develop an understanding of art language, but also hone their unique (and awesome) styles.

We will make an abstract piece, a still life, a portrait, and a piece drawn from the student’s imagination.  As we do so, we will study color theory, value, and tone as we do this, as we make color wheels and value scales.

A kit of acrylic paints, brush, canvas, and wood panels (1 canvas and 3 wood panels) will be included in this class.  The class fee is slightly higher due to the larger materials list.
